Windows painted on the outside...

News: 22nd of June: We got painted on the outside all the other half of the windows of the building, as part of De Key's regular maintenance works on the building probably.


It's not that fair for me as a tenant (whose contract shall end in less than a month) to offer support to these maintenance works of De Key:

1. I had to clean my room on the inside once the work was finished and
2. I had to suffer disturbance due to the noise and smell of the paint.

Will I get a discount for that? No.
Does De Key get free cleaning work for that? Obviously.
Not fair: I lose. I must admit they're smart doing it this way...

The fair solution?
De Key should have done these works during the free period of the building, i.e. 16th of July - 15th of August, but that would have meant to pay themselves for the cleaning, wouldn't it? So, why do that when they can get it for free? :)

Note: I said correctly on the outside, because they will inform us when the windows shall be painted on the inside too in the near future...

So, how was my day?
After my windows got painted on the outside, the smell of the fresh paint kicked me out of the room, so I continued my Amsterdam's-famous-churches visit.
When I got back... it was time to do the cleaning...

I'm looking forward for another (and bigger) round of cleaning when the windows shall get painted on the inside...


Updates:

23rd of June: 2nd round of paining on the outside. Well, at least the workers do a great job. The downside is it's disturbing the tenants, i.e. the students.

24th of June: some sort of a final check and further adjustments to the outside window painting works done for the side I live in. I had to leave the stress after they checked the windows of my room and decided to visit Permuseum.

Ca românul nostalgic, am zis să văd o parte din slujba de Înviere de la TV, i.e. ce se transmitea din România la TV...
Mi-am dat seama de această posibilitate puțin după 23 ora NL, deci puțin după 00 ora RO...
Deci am pierdut primirea Luminii prin display-ul comp-ului...

Și, cu speranță am pornit să găsesc pe undeva live streaming:

1. Evenimentul Zilei și Gândul nu ofereau nimic - logic, normal, evident.
2. Realitatea - pe lângă știri tâmpite plasate pe tot site-ul, apare link-ul de live streaming, but guess what? Era setat automat pe România, iar eu eram... Internațional - presupun ca funcția de determinare automată a locației are bug-uri, dar de implementat au implementat-o, corect? :) Anyway, constatând că nu găsește serverul (îmi dădea mesaj explicit cu asta), am dat click pe Internațional și a mers.
   După câteva minute de transmisie au revenit în studio, și moderatoarea cu invitații au ciocnit ouă și au început să bată câmpii. (Ca fapt divers, ce căutau în studio Corina Chiriac, Tudor Octavian et. al.?)
   Damn, hai să mai căutăm...
3. Antena 3 - știri și mai tâmpite pe tot site-ul, dar live streaming-ul apare plasat bine și merge din prima. Yupiii!
   Imaginea și sunetul veneau de la Patriarhie cred, dar îi mănâncă pe cei din studio și încep să comenteze diferențe ortodoxism vs. catolicism și alte teme dintr-astea filozofice - evident, în spiritul antenist, erau habar-nam-iști, pesimiști, naționaliști și manifestau un puternic spirit rural.
   M-am oprit, mă simțeam pedepsit de divinitate, aproape abandonasem ideea...
   

...Apoi mi-am dat seama - soluția era evidentă - Trinitas:
Din păcate, TV-ul oferă un link de live streaming care nu merge, dar...
Radio-ul oferă live streaming perfect: totul în direct de la Patriarhie, sunet bun, zero întreruperi, zero comentarii aiurea - exact ce vroiam, iar televiziunile comerciale nu au putut oferi. Felicitări!... și uite-așa, stând pe scaun mi-am potolit nostalgia.

Precizări:

1. La noi în biserică se stă în picioare, înghesuit, cu vecini nerăbdători care comentează - eu stăteam pe scaun, lejer, și ascultam în liniște. => Destul de catolică abordarea, aș zice :)
   În momente ca astea apreciezi organizarea catolică și-ți dorești să bage și ai noștri băncuțe mai multe în biserică, să asiști liniștit, dacă vrei să asiști.
2. Evident că din slujbă n-am înțeles mai nimic - Deh, nu am spiritul religios antrenat.
3. Oh well, a fost o experiență interesantă.
   Nu, nu mă duc la biserică.
   Nu m-am mai dus să iau Lumină de Paște de nu-știu-câți ani.
   Da, nu sunt un bun creștin.

Anyway,

Hristos a înviat! Adevărat a înviat!


Am menționat că am făcut și ouă roșii?
Ok, zic acum.

Second haircut, several posts later

The first post of this blog is about my first haircut here. When I wrote it, I mentioned hoping that by the second haircut I would have written more posts than just the second haircut related one :) So I did. Hooray!

Funny data mining: first haircut on a Wednesday, second on a Thursday, therefore third should be on a Friday, right?

Less than 48 hours

Indeed, at this moment there are less than 48 hours, i.e. 5 minutes less, until my flight takes off heading Romania.
Romania is cool.
TAROM has always been cool and provided great service. I advise you to use it too should you go to Romania.

Cleaning done on a large scale in a small room

Since (1) my flight back to continental Romania is only a few days away, (2) Christmas is getting closer every passing day and (3) I finished my exam(s) session (although one homework still waits for me to start solving it - yeah, keep waiting, I'm not in the mood now!), I decided it was time to clean both my room and the facilities, i.e. toilet, I share with my apartment mate.

I'm proud of what I accomplished today:

1. Vacuum cleaning: this way I removed all the dust from the floor. We have a quite decent vacuum cleaner shared between the 3rd and 4th floor of the building (only at these floors students live).
2. Cleaning the floor with the help of universal detergent and a very useful mop that I bought in September (if I remember right).
3. Cleaning the toilet (shared facility): I was so determined to clean everything that I rushed in that common facility too. - In a funny way, I finished cleaning it at about the same time a scheduled post on my computer science blog got posted :D Isn't technology cool or what?
   

There was no need to clean the other shared facility, i.e. the shower, which was good news since the first 3 tasks kind of got me tired.

Everything's clean now - nice and shiny.

Yeah, Christmas on!
